Kia Motors is one of the fastest growing car brands in the world. The company was founded in 1944 and has been producing cars ever since. Kia started out as a manufacturer of steel tubing and bicycle parts, but eventually moved to manufacturing cars under license from the Ford Motor Company in 1967.
Since 1974, Kia has been producing 100% of its own components for vehicle assembly and has earned an international reputation for quality. With eight models currently sold in America and Europe, including SUVs like the Sorento and Soul, sedans like the Cadenza and Optima, crossovers like the Sportage and mid-size sedans like the Forte, it has become one of America’s most recognized auto brands .
Plans for the future of Kia Motors include the Kia Sorento and the Optima to be updated in 2016, as well as the all-new Sedona minivan. 2017 will be the year of the new Sportage, which is expected to have a redesigned exterior and more cargo space than its predecessor.
Kia has a clear interest in the long run in America and Europe. With plans for an aggressive 10-year plan is to develop more electric, hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles, with plans for self-driving cars in the future.
Kia is looking to expand its global footprint by 2020 and will have seven factories on four different continents, including North America and Europe.
In 2015, Kia Motors sold over 1 million vehicles worldwide. Zuchowski said that by 2020 the company should sell over 2 million units per year.
Kia has come a long way in 75 years and is likely to continue to have a strong presence in America and Europe for many years to come.
